2022 / 23 Touring Season

Scheduled Departures: 1 September 2022 - 31 May 2023

On Wednesday 16 March 2022, the New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern announced further detail regarding opening New Zealand to the World.

The Government will open the New Zealand border to vaccinated Australian tourists from 11.59pm on April 12, 2022. Additionally, tourists from visa-waiver countries like the United States and UK will be able to arrive from 11.59pm on May 1, 2022. The wider opening to the rest of the world for non-visa waiver countries is also likely to be brought forwards from October.

Grand Pacific Tours 2022/23 touring season commences in September 2022 and based on the recent announcement the team at GPT are currently working through the administration aligned with the restart of touring and confirmation of all tours will be advised approximately 120 days prior to travel, if not before.

All travellers will need to be fully vaccinated, however, self-isolation will no longer be a requirement. All health requirements aligned with entering New Zealand will be continually updated in our Touring with Confidence Guidebook. We also encourage all travellers to refer to applicable government websites within their country of origin plus the relevant airline carrier to ensure all requirements are met.

All tour dates and pricing are now available for the upcoming touring season, 01 September 2022 – 31 May 2023, to view our 96 page e-brochure showcasing our 3 Ways to Travel and 4 Styles of Touring click on the link below.

2021 / 22 Touring Season (now suspended)

Scheduled Departures: 1 September 2021 - 31 May 2022

All GPT tours that were scheduled to depart from 1 September 2021 to 31 May 2022 are now suspended. This situation is COVID-19 related, beyond our control and we apologise for the inconvenience caused.

If you were scheduled to travel in the suspended 2021 / 22 touring season and will be moving to a date in the 2022 / 23 touring season, please review the below:

  • Based on selecting the same seasonality and tour type, the new date will be confirmed at the same cost if travelled prior to 31 May 2023. This is based on land only bookings, airline inclusive packages may incur additional charges determined by the airline.

  • GPT has now launched the 2022 / 23 season pricing with a choice of land only or all-inclusive of return airfares and taxes. Please speak with the Reservations Team at the time of selecting a new date about upgrading from a land only booking to air inclusive, this is only available for new bookings that were put in place for the 2020/2021 or 2021/2022 season. Please note, GPT will not be booking or reissuing any airline tickets until the Trans-Tasman borders re-open for quarantine free travel and airline schedules are available.

  • At the time of transferring to a new date, if a traveller moves from a discounted shoulder season date to a high season travel date, additional monies may be required. If the situation is reversed and the move is from high season to a discounted shoulder season date, a refund will be provided.

  • For all travellers who were booked to travel on a Warbirds over Wanaka Tour in April 2022, a separate Travel Update will be communicated due to the next Warbirds over Wanaka event not being scheduled until the following touring season - April 2024.

  • The current booking can be put into a suspense file as a future travel credit, until travellers choose a new departure date.

  • Once a new date is confirmed, normal booking terms and conditions will apply.

  • If travellers wish to cancel completely, Travel Agents should contact the GPT Reservations Team for an outline of the cancellation Terms and Conditions.

FUTURE TRAVEL CREDIT - SUSPENSE FILES

Many suspended travellers from the previous season/s have elected to put their file in ‘’credit’’ until a new date selection has been made.

The above terms and conditions will apply once a suspense file traveller transfers to a new 2022 / 23 departure date.

Travellers can hold monies in suspense at this stage until 30 June 2022, unless holding airline tickets with specific rebooking criteria.

Future travel credit must be used on departures from 1 September 2022 through to 31 May 2023.

AIRLINE TRAVEL

For tour bookings suspended from March 2020 onwards, that were booked with GPT as an ‘airline inclusive package’, terms and conditions for the use of airline credits will vary depending on the airline. The GPT Reservations Team will communicate the relevant terms and conditions at the time of finalising new flights. Any airfare price difference, increased tax costs or associated reissue fees quoted by the airline at the time of rebooking will be the responsibility of the traveller.

Any bookings that were made for travel on tours for the 2020 / 21 and 2021 / 22 touring season, were booked as Land Only. GPT is now offering air inclusive package pricing for travel in the 2022 / 23 season, please speak to our Reservations Team at the time of confirming a new travel date about upgrading to an air inclusive package price.

COVID-19 CONDITIONS OF TRAVEL

It is the traveller’s responsibility to fully understand the mandatory conditions of travel that have been instigated as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. GPT take no responsibility if travel or entry into New Zealand is denied due to regulations not being met.

Due to the mandatory vaccination requirements imposed by the airlines and Hotel and Attraction suppliers in New Zealand that form part of the GPT itineraries, all travellers touring with GPT will need to be fully vaccinated and be able to show their vaccination certificate at any time throughout the tour.

As travel will not commence until September 2022, it is too early to officially advise the mandatory travel requirements set by the Australian and New Zealand Governments and respective airlines for quarantine free travel once the borders re-open.

Grand Pacific Tours has published a Touring with Confidence Guidebook which will be continually updated with mandatory requirements to travel; plus provide General Information pertaining to all the frequently asked questions about touring New Zealand.

ITINERARY CONTENT

At the time of releasing the 2022 / 23 season product, GPT has compiled the content of all tour itineraries based on the knowledge that all accommodation and attraction suppliers will be fully operational by commencement of the touring season.

If for any reason a component of the tour is not available at the time of touring, a replacement or refund will be provided.

Any refund amount is based on GPT’s negotiated pricing and not retail prices. Known changes will be distributed as part of the Documentation process prior to departure.
