DAY 1: Arrive Christchurch (D)

On arrival into Christchurch you will be met by a Grand Pacific Tours representative who will transfer you to your hotel. Meet your travelling companions over a complimentary pre dinner drink.

DAY 2: Christchurch - Mt Cook (B,D)

Enjoy a city sights tour of Christchurch before arriving at the Air Force Museum of New Zealand where a ‘behind the scenes’ tour showcases the restoration projects in action and provides the rare opportunity to walk through the Bristol Freighter and Andover. Travel through the Southern Canterbury Plains to Lake Tekapo. Visit the Church of the Good Shepherd and view the Sheep Dog Statue before arriving at Mt Cook, New Zealand’s highest peak. The opportunity is available to enjoy a scenic flight (optional, time and weather permitting) over the Southern Alps.

DAY 3: Mt Cook - Queenstown (B)

Depart Mt Cook, and travel through the Mackenzie Basin which links to the dramatic Lindis Pass. You can expect to see snow capped mountains and a landscape dominated by tussock grassland as you make your way to Queenstown, a year round resort, situation on magical Lake Wakatipu. This evening is free to dine at one of the many fine restaurants in town.

DAY 4: Queenstown (B,D)

Today you have the choice of either a free day in Queenstown or travelling to Wanaka for the opening day of the Warbirds Over Wanaka Airshow. No flying will occur today, however some practice will be happening overhead. On the ground check out the static displays which include classic cars and Warhorses (military vehicles), sport aircraft, stationary engines, WOWMart (used aircraft parts for sale), NASA, aviation training organisations and aviation trade stands. Taste wine and food from Central Otago, or use your voucher to visit the Warbirds and Wheels Museum, which showcases the story of Sir Tim Wallis, founder of the Warbirds Over Wanaka International Airshow.

DAY 5: Warbirds Over Wanaka (B,D)

Travel to Wanaka over the next two days where Wanaka Airport will become your home as you are entertained by the world’s best display pilots flying aircraft overhead. Your ticket will gain you access to the Gold Pass Enclosure. Enjoy the ultimate in airshow luxury as you will be situated on the flight line with grandstand seating and a plush marquee where you can relax in comfort and watch the show from the best seats in the house.

DAY 6: Warbirds Over Wanaka (B,D)

On the final day of the Airshow you will see extraordinary flying acts with famous military fighter aircraft spanning 100 years through to the jets of today. See the Corsair, Kittyhawk, Spitfire, Mustang and RNZAF’s new Black Falcons aerobatic display. The show culminates in a huge mock air battle complete with pyrotechnics.

DAY 7: Queenstown - Franz Josef Glacier (B,D)

Travel to Arrowtown, an old goldmining village. Visit the Lakes District Museum, which contains a treasure trove of stories ad exhibits about the exciting mining era of the late 1800s. Continue via the Haast Pass to the West Coast, an area of stunning beauty. See the snow capped peaks of the Southern Alps as you travel north to Franz Josef Glacier. Time is available (weather permitting) to experience a scenic flight (optional) over the spectacular glaciers before arriving at your hotel.

DAY 8: Franz Josef Glacier - Arthur's Pass - Christchurch (B,D)

Travel to Hokitika and visit the Greenstone Factory. Continue to Arthur’s Pass and board the TranzAlpine, renowned as one of the great train journeys of the world. View rivers and valleys as you travel through the Waimakariri Basin, over massive viaducts and through the patchwork farmlands of the Canterbury Plains to the elegant city of Christchurch. On arrival your Ultimate Coach will be waiting to transfer you to your hotel.

DAY 9: Christchurch - Blenheim (B,D)

Travel through the Lewis Pass and enjoy the spectacular scenery as you continue through Marlborough Country, famous for its food & wine. Your accommodation is set amongst a picturesque vineyard setting. This evening before dinner, you have the opportunity to sample some of the local wines.

DAY 10: Wellington (B,SD)

This morning enjoy a fascinating guided tour of the Omaka Aviation Heritage Centre which will transport you from WWI to WWII featuring an extensive collection of aircraft belonging to Sir Peter Jackson. Continue to Picton, where you board the Interislander Ferry for your journey through the Marlborough Sounds and across Cook Strait to Wellington. This evening enjoy a farewell dinner including selected beverages with your new found friends.

DAY 11: Depart Wellington (B)

Time to say goodbye. You will be transferred to the airport for your flight home after a memorable New Zealand holiday.
