Skycity Auckland

All tour breakfasts will now be held in Fortuna Restaurant (was previously at Andy’s restaurant).
Skycity porters will now be collecting guest bags from inside the room and bags will no longer be left outside the door for collection.

 

James Cook Grand Chancellor

Whitby’s Restaurant and Bar will be closed for scheduled maintenance throughout January 2019. Buffet breakfast will be served on level 16 of the hotel from 6.30am daily. For dinner, a TDH menu will be offered in place of the buffet selection. GPT travellers can dine at Sojourn Café on the second night for dinner, located on the lobby level of the hotel or choose from the extensive room service menu (own cost).

 

Sudima Hotel Lake Rotorua

With the refurbishment of the function rooms now complete, the Maori Hangi & Concert is operating as normal. With regards to the rooms located in the ‘100’ block, the refurbishment of these rooms are tracking well with availability accessible from 01 January 2019. These rooms will now be categorised as ‘Superior Plus’ and further conversations are being conducted with Sudima management on GPT’s use of these rooms.

 

Hawkes Bay Express

Reminder for Crew to adhere to the below timelines for the GPS tours visit to Napier, based on discussions with Hawkes Bay Express (HBE).  Confirmed timeline is as follows:
11.50 am   arrive Napier
12 noon     start tour (HBE)
12.45 pm   end tour (HBE)
1.45 pm     depart Napier
5.30 pm     arrive Masterton
7.00 pm     hotel dinner

Updated footage of the rebuild of the Kaikoura rail system is now available on a DVD to display to travellers on our Rail Tours. Please ensure you receive your updated copy from Jules.
NZ Transport Agency are going through a public consultation process to reduce speed limits north of Kaikoura to 80km/h (30km of road), south of Kaikoura to 80km/h (30km of road) and through the Hunderlees (north of Cheviot) to 60km/h. At the time of this publication, the results of the consultation process were still unknown.

 

Department of Conservation (DOC)

With DOC staff members patrolling the key tourism hot spots, Crew are reminded to be mindful when escorting travellers to certain National Park viewing areas as specific concessions are required. Without a concession, Crew are not to be seen as guiding any travellers throughout the area. Several Crew have been approached and warned this season.

Sudima Hotel Christchurch Airport

Newly announced General Manager for the Sudima Hotel Christchurch Airport is Ana Vivas. Fui Ching will still be with the hotel group but in a regional role.

Special seniors rate of NZ $40 is now available to anyone (domestic and international) over 65 years of age. The GPT Optional Tours Directory has this optional priced at $49 (10% discount upon presentation of directory coupon).
