NZ’s North Island: A Fertile Heartland

16 May 18

New Zealand is a unique destination showcasing lush, fertile landscapes, contrasted by sandy beaches, food and wine hubs and a rich culture and history. All of which can be found on the lively North Island.

Auckland’s CBD is alive with a popular inner city and waterfront dining precinct. Taste your way through fresh food and wine before discovering the vibrant arts and culture scene. Marvel over the breathtaking views inside the 328-metre tall Auckland Sky Tower, an iconic structure in the heart of the CBD with panoramic 360 degree views up to 80 km in every direction.

For those with more free time, the cosmopolitan city is juxtaposed by extravagant natural surroundings located within an hour of the CBD. 35 minutes to the east, relax in paradise on Waiheke Island with picturesque olive groves and beaches while tasting local food and wine. 40 minutes to the west, Waitakere is rich in nature with black sand beaches, magical waterfalls and the giants of the forests - sacred Kauri Trees.

Auckland is a gateway to the subtropical Bay of Islands, encompassing 144 islands along a pristine, protected coast line. Cruise the clear, warm waters on a luxury catamaran, spot dolphins and visit the famous Hole in the Rock, symbolic to the Maori tribes who would pass through the entrance on their way to battle.

Travelling south of Auckland you’ll encounter the cultural and geothermal wonderland of Rotorua. Immerse yourself in the Maori culture with a Traditional Maori Hangi and Concert. Feast on delicious food, smoky in flavour and cooked in the ground using the geothermal heat. The region also boasts breathtaking scenery including 16 beautiful lakes, lush flora and redwood forests - all shaped by the volcanic activity.

Set on the edge of a stunning harbour in the North Island’s south, Wellington offers the very best of this extraordinary land. From arts and culture, Maori heritage and natural wonders, to wine and food, shopping and rural retreats. Wellington’s must do attraction is Te Papa, NZ’s National Museum with exhibits that embrace both Maori & European culture including Gallipoli: The Scale of our War exhibition.

New Zealand’s North Island is a unique and captivating utopia full of once-in-a-lifetime experiences not to be missed!
