Museum of Transport and Technology

From the ground to high above, an aircraft display that inspires and wows! Take a journey through one of the most significant aviation collections in the Southern Hemisphere.

The esteemed Aviation Display Hall at the Museum of Transport and Technology proudly showcases an extensive array of recreational, military, topdressing, and commercial aircraft. This exhibit commemorates the rich history of New Zealand aviation, tracing back to February 1911 when Vivian Walsh accomplished a sustained and controlled flight in a British Howard Wright biplane.

Visitors to the hall will have the opportunity to marvel at aircraft that once served in the Royal New Zealand Air Force, including notable examples such as the de Havilland Mosquito, the modern Skyhawk, and the Aermacchi. Among the highlights are the Solent and Sunderland Flying Boats, along with the iconic Lancaster bomber.

This attraction is included in both the Classic Fighters Tours and Warbirds over Wanaka Tours.
