Omaka Aviation Heritage Centre
The Omaka Aviation Heritage Centre, is a world-class destination for the appreciation of historic aircraft. Not just for enthusiasts, the centre tells the story of aviation during two World Wars, the time in which the most intense period of aviation development took place.
Explore Sir Peter Jackson’s 'Knights of the Sky' Exhibition, a personal collection of rare memorabilia including personal items belonging to national flying heroes such as the USA’s Eddie Rickenbacker, France’s René Fonck and Germany’s Red Baron, Manfred von Richthofen and the infamous Hermann Goering.
'There's something magical about the early days of aviation. For me, it is the flying during the First World War that has always captured my imagination.'
- Sir Peter Jackson
The WW2 Exhibition 'Dangerous Skies' is also a popular exhibition, showcasing lesser-known stories of the war on the Eastern front. In 2019, two aircraft were added to the collection: a Messerschmitt Bf108 once owned and flown by German ace Franz Stigler, and a Lockheed Hudson, an American-built light bomber and coastal reconnaissance aircraft.
